• Use cool or lukewarm water (hot water increases itching)
• Leave medicated shampoo on for 10-15 minutes contact time
• Towel dry after bathing (blow dryers increase itching)
• Dips are sponged on and left to dry without rinsing
• Wipes are useful for between toes and skin folds
• Stop and rinse if skin appears more irritated after application
• Wear gloves when applying steroid-containing products
