Uveitis
Inflammation of the uveal tract (iris, ciliary body, choroid) with many possible causes.
Key Facts
- Causes: infections (FIP, tick-borne), trauma, cataracts, tumors, immune-mediated
- Anterior uveitis: red eye, squinting, cloudiness, pupil changes
- Posterior uveitis: may only be found on eye exam unless blindness occurs
- Secondary glaucoma can develop
- Treatment: topical eye drops + systemic medications, often weeks to months
- Close monitoring with frequent eye pressure checks needed
