• Often genetic — many predisposed dog breeds (Shar Pei, Bulldog, Chow Chow)
• Rare congenital in cats; secondary entropion from herpesvirus more common
• Signs: squinting, excessive tearing, light sensitivity, mucous discharge
• Treatment: blepharoplasty (surgical removal of excess eyelid skin)
• Puppies: temporary lid tacking until adult head conformation develops
• Corneal ulcers must be treated concurrently
• Affected dogs should not be bred
